Bio

Alina Vergnano (b. Torino, 1989) is an Italian artist living and working in Norway and Sweden.

With drawing as a point of departure her practice is a visual investigation into the fluid and transformational nature of being

Vergnano´s lines follow to the movement of bodies in space. They respond to the
the shape of thoughts and emotions as they change, form and dissolve in time.Traces expand and contract with the ebb and flow of intensities, attuned to the fluctuations of affects and feelings.

The results are images that movebetweenthe abstract and the figurativeand explore the potential of what dwellsin the in-between. Herartistic subjects are captured as they become: in a flow, entangled with what came before and what is about to surface next.

Vergnano is interested in the liminal, the blurred and the manifold. Her work investigates the convergence between the inner and the outer, as her lines do not enclose or define, but leave space for meanings to form, flow and mutate.

At Bergen Kunsthall, she will show a large-scale drawing on canvas. Enveloping the viewer within the movement of its lines, the work materialises the spacious, yet intangible presence of feelings. Installed site-specifically, the artwork belongs in-between drawing, painting and installation.
